Social Ride Week Commencing 23rd May 2016

Hi All,

Sorry for the lateness of sending this out.

I’m not going to be posting any social rides for this week, due to having meetings and I’ve come down with a bug, so I’m feeling like shit.

It’s coming up to TT fortnight, so the roads will be busy and closed at times.

So hopefully post some rides next week.

Cheers

L’Etape de Mann

On the 13th of April Paul Phillips, a long time supporter of Loaghtan Loaded MTB and the Longest Day, Longest Ride (www.ldlr.im), will be taking part in what we are calling ‘L’etape de Mann’ which will be a charity cycle ride on the Isle of Man emulating the 2014 Etape du Tour in terms of distance covered and meters climbed. The 2014 Etape will cross the infamous Col du Tourmalet and Hautacam Tour de France climbs and will ascend a total of 3500 meters in 98 miles.

His ride will cover the same mileage and go up the same total ascent as the Etape, but all on the famous cycling roads of the Isle of Man. Joining him on the ride will be a small number of local cycling friends along with a handful of well known competitors from the Isle of Man TT Races.

It isn’t a race! But it will be a very challenging ride aimed at raising money for Rebecca House Children’s Hospice.

Rebecca House is a children’s wing in the Isle of Man Hospice. It is a purpose-built facility that opened in November 2007 and it provides respite, palliative and end of life care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions from birth to 18 years. Rebecca House offers a safe haven and a home from home environment in which physical, emotional, recreational and spiritual care is offered and implemented in a way appropriate to the child and their family.

As most of you may know, Rebecca House helped care for Paul’s son Freddie when he first came to the Isle of Man after being born and spending many months in Liverpool where he was very poorly and gave his family tremendous support at a very difficult time.

Please help us raise as much money as possible for Rebecca House by sponsoring him on his ride on April the 13th 2014. Donations can be made at… http://www.justgiving.com/letapedumann.

Many thanks

Paul

Trail Building Evenings

With just 34 days until the event there is still plenty to do up at Conrhenny and the plan is to get up to the plantation on as many evening and weekends as possible to ensure we have a fighting chance of finishing the work to make the course more sustainable.  If you can spare an hour or two of an evening or weekend please get in touch with either myself (Gadge 453016) or Sinbad (435625) as the more people we get the quicker the work will be done.
Many thanks in advance.
