Beer Barrows and Saws

This morning saw a good little turn out for the first work party in preparation of the Longest Day, Longest Ride and clearing a few sections of the course to make it safer to ride.  We would like to thanks the following for turning up and lending a hand;

Coops, Sinbad, Seamus, Will, Sue, Selwyn, Scott and a special thank you has to go to Cam who was our bear this morning……oh not for pooping in the woods but for turning up with the hanger from hell!

We managed to get a good portion of the course cleared of debris and a lot of ‘coat hangers‘ removed which will make riding these sections a lot safer at night and when riders are feeling fatigued.

Through the plotting of a new course we naturally came across a few things which needed to be negotiated and where we couldn’t negotiate them we removed them; Seamus was more than happy to oblige with this.

(No trees were harmed in the production of this course).

Sinbad gives us a demonstration of his Bear Grylls / Ray Meers survival shave using only his chopper.

We were emerging from the trees when we were pleasured by the presence of our very own William Shakespear……Foxdale who was out with the Saturday beginners ride and managed to drum up a bit more support for the Longest Day, Longest Ride.  Well Done Foxdale!

Sinbad wonders where everyone had disappeared to but didn’t realise they were behind him!

Thanks again to those that turned up to help clear the new course of debris and coat hangers.  We will be doing a few more of these in the coming weeks and may organise a few clear rides when the nights get a little lighter and warmer.

Trail Work Party Saturday 14th April

We are organising a trail work party at Conrhenny Plantation to make a start on ground clearance and trimming for the Longest Day, Longest Ride event course.  Please bring pruning saw and rake if you have them and meet at the main car park for 9am.  It is hoped to work until 12 noon, weather dependant, or as long as necessary.

For further details or to confirm your attendance please contact Gadge on 07624 453016 or gadge@loaghtanloaded.com

Thank you in advance for all volunteers.

Social Rides Week Commencing – 9th April

Hi All,

Hope you are all having a good Easter?

This week I’ll not be able to ride Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday due to Coastguard commitments (meeting, exercise, patrol).

So I’m hoping to go out tomorrow (Monday, day or evening), I know it’s a bank holiday, and some of you will have family stuff on.

If anybody fancies joining me, contact me, text (481793) or email (coops@loaghtanloaded.com).

Otherwise, if anybody wants to organise rides for this week, they can do, or I can do it (but not turn up and ride).

Cheers
Coops

Brrrrrr Ride

Read the latest Ride Blog by Foxdale and see just what the boys have been up to.

It’s a good job the library bus wasn’t stopped as the book of excuses was well thumbed tonight due to the adverse weather conditions, people pulling out quicker than the pope at a bunga bunga party, best excuse goes to Bazaar who was looking for a lost jigsaw piece under the table. Click HERE to read more.

New Club Cycle T-Shirt

To celebrate the new club mascot and help promote the club off-shore Seamus has come up with a cool design idea for a tour cycle t-shirt which features our new club mascot.  The below design will be available in a Coolmax material cycle t-shirt similar to a base layer.  We anticipate costs to be in the region of £30 for this full custom cycle t-shirt and if we get orders in to Coops by no later than the 4th April we should have them ready for the tour.

New Club Kit

Well it’s been a few years since we originally got our club cycling kit and as we now have a lot more riding with us we thought it about time we had a new club kit that would encapsulate the ethos of the club with a nice new mascot.  So below is the new club kit and sizing charts for men and women.

Costs are in the region of £36 – £40 and we plan to have the jerseys ready for the annual tour so please be sure to get your order details to Coops by no later than the 4th April to be sure of having your jersey on the tour.

At the moment we are only offering short sleeve jerseys in the classic cycle jersey style.
